Our Place Society
Our Place Society is a community service provider for the poor, disadvantaged, and homeless of Greater Victoria. Having grown from a unique inner-city community centre to numerous locations, Our Place serves Greater Victoria’s most vulnerable, including people struggling with homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use issues, the working poor, and impoverished elderly. Individuals and businesses provide over 50% of the financial support for its programs and services. From its Pandora Avenue location, Our Place Society runs a variety of life transforming services, including meals, housing, health and wellness, education, and practical care.
Having grown from a unique inner-city community centre Our Place now provides multiple locations serving Greater Victoria’s most vulnerable, including people struggling with homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use issues, the working poor, LGBTQ+, and impoverished elderly.
Our Place provides over 1,400 meals every day, over 500 units of housing plus transitional shelter spaces, hot showers, education, job skills, health care, addiction recovery services, donated clothing, counselling, outreach services, and more. Our Place also operates a successful, long-term recovery community for men. Most importantly, Our Place provides a sense of hope and belonging to our neighbours in need.
As with all our Charities of the Month, proceeds from the sale of tasters at the Growler Bar, as well as the donations we collect, will be given to this awesome and important group of folks.
